Came across this swing at www.historicgolfphotos.com and I liked a lot of what I saw:
We don't have a caddy view, but I think this address position is excellent. No 'flat spine' and 'chin up' nonsense. She has a nice amount of waistbend. This is something I see female beginner golfers struggle with, they tend to flex the knees, but don't understand bending from the waist as well. I'd take this p1 over most of the PGA Tour's today.
More 1-piece type of takeaway. Face is square to the arc. Quite a bit of turn already for being at p1.5 (no p2 available). Rear leg is straightening already and that plays a part in that early turn.
The camera angle is a little cockeyed. I think she's a little inside with her hand-path here, but not as much as the camera angle makes it appear. We can see some good things here. Right hip is higher than the left, right knee cap is higher than the left knee cap.
Nicely done. A little wide and upright because of the right elbow position with relation to the body. Gotta love that perfectly square clubface here. Not a lot of compensations needed in the downswing from this position. Beautiful.
This indicates that she hit a draw. Hips are square, shoulders are closed. If she was hitting fades her hips-to-shoulders relationship would be more like this at p5. At p5.5, this means she has less time to open up. So the path will go out to the right and produce a draw spin. Also a nice amount of 're-flexion' of the knees. She's going to use the ground to help her power her swing.
I would say her shoulders a tad closed while the hips are a tad open. Again, this is Draw-Shot Mechanics 101. Face much more open than it was at p1.5. Also nice to see her keep the right foot on the ground instead of the right heel well off the ground with the right knee kicking inward. That's what I see most female golfers, even good ones, do.
Would have been nice to see what was going on right at impact. Could probably use a little more side tilt. But, still this is pretty nice.
Definitely CF. I think Betsy could have done some damage today in the years of the oversized 460cc driver heads. Doing this with a tiny persimmon head isn't easy.
This is the picture I like the least. Face flops over. May have been a mis-hit. But, it looks like it fits her release style.
Classic high draw finish from a persimmon player. Left humurus pointing upward, appears to be a reverse-C style finish. Pretty common when players were trying to hit a high draw with persimmon.
