For those of you that purchased 2013 Pro Golf Synopsis, you will see that Henrik Stenson ended up ranking 1st in my Driving Effectiveness algorithm.
Here's a look at his swing sequence from DTL and from the caddy view:
I was told by somebody close to Stenson that his attack angle with the driver is at -2 degrees.
P1 - Grip is probably considered by today's standards as 'neutral.' Back in the 90's and before, people would likely have called it 'strong.' I think his right hand is in a fairly strong position with his left hand more neutral. He stands pretty upright and close to the ball. Those two tend to go hand-in-hand. This will likely promote a more upright lead arm plane in the backswing. Has very little knee flex here as well which is a bit unusual for a golfer of his height. Taller golfers tend to have more flexion and shorter golfers tend to have less flexion at address.
P2 - He utilizes a fairly wide takeaway, but is not hyperextending the left arm. Face looks a bit open here.
P3 - He moves a bit like Hogan from the caddy view here. He starts to move off the ball a bit and then move back onto the ball at p4. Not much hip slant or knee slant here. Therefore, his right shoulder is not much higher than his left shoulder. However, the clubface is now square. Late wrist-cock here as well. That usually means he'll either get a lot of wrist-cock as he goes into p4 or will get that wrist-cock on the downswing and 'float load.'
P4 - He's a little upright here. But again, that's going to happen with his address position. The right elbow 'flies' a bit and that was probably brought on by his address position. It's nothing crazy, but helps explain his particular swing. The right knee has straightened, but only slightly.
P5.5 - Hips look slightly open. Shoulders are closed, but not by a massive amount. He's on pace to hit this straight or with a little fade.
P6 - Can only see the caddy view. Would like to see this with, say a 7-iron to see if this is more of a mid-release or a late release. I have difficulty telling with driver swings
P7 - Forearm is on plane. Nice side tilt here with the torso opened creates this look. No running out of right arm here.
P7.5 - More or less CF-inline. Crosses the arms over a little in the release.
