As a superintendent for 10+ years I thought I would share with you what I see every day.
Reading Greens
1. Imagine the green is covered in water, the way the water flows is the same way the putt will break.
2. Always trust the slope you see, not everyone can or does cut a perfectly straight cup.
3. Late in the day, look at the edges of the hole. The side that is shows wear or fray is the side everyone has missed that putt to….don’t do the same.
4. On aerified greens play 2 times the speed and half the break. Tom Watson once shot a 58, 2 days after aerification at his home course.
5. Always take the yardage with no trouble. carry over water…..you can 2 putt from the back of the green but not the Drop Zone.
6. If your course aerifies their greens often (Like Me) that putt that ALWAYS breaks right, might not anymore. The process of punch, sand, drag, and roll, changes the contour little by little.
7. The range tee and Putting Green is always the prettiest grass on the property……now go scar it up!
And remember tell your super what you like about the place, he never hears it enough! Plus, you will become one of “his” members, LOL.

Great stuff!
I would also suggest with aerified greens to try and keep the ball below the cup. You have to hit uphill putts with more velocity and it more or less takes the aerified holes out of play. Downhill putts on aerified greens are almost impossible to make.
