I am certainly interested in these type of devices. Ideally, I would like to see something that could record what club you are using and then tally up the shots for a given period of time and have it say something like You missed right 83% of the time with your 8-iron. And you missed short 91% with the 8-iron.
They really need to eliminate the use of GIR % or at the very least use it in a different way. Getting the ball closer to the cup is generally more important. Also a scoring system for the golfer's ability to drive the ball is crucial. It has to take into account fairway, rough, fairway bunker, trees, etc. And then be able to do a comparative analysis between different rounds (i.e. Bill drove it better on Sunday than he did on Thursday) as well as some sort of comparative analysis between what the driving for a typical 5-handicapper, scratch golfer, and Tour pro would look like.
I like some of the ideas of a lot of these products, but they keep relying on the same old statistics that are incomplete, mathematically flawed and lead to poor conclusions.
