It would be interesting to see a detailed analysis of Tigers 2000 swing versus 2008 before the injuries.

Watching him work with Haney now is like watching a Toyota Prius engine being installed into a Lamborghini.

Butch did a great job with Tiger, OBVIOUSLY, we're talking about a guy that, at the time, was a GREAT ball striker. People bash on method teachers alot, and I understand that, but there still is room and a good place for the method teacher in the world, and will always be. I think that whether you are a "method teacher" or not, you really need a "method" of teaching beginners. There must be a procedure and a certain method that you should go. I think the worst thing for me starting out in the game was NOT having a specific WAY or METHOD of doing things. I felt I got a little too much information overload.... I believe that's where Tiger is now and that's why he is pulled in so many different directions and doesn't know what to do with his swing. I find this interview with Butch and Tiger very interesting and very relevant to Tiger's issues at THAT time, OBVIOUSLY it helped. www.youtube.com/watch?v=PplQjd6ZP88What do you guys think? I noticed both Butch AND Haney have tried to change Tiger's grip to more neutral, than what it was as a junior, which was kinda strong. Did Tiger's grip change from junior days, to Butch, to Haney? And the more important question is..Has it helped or hurt and WHY?? I also noticed that Butch did a good job of "selling" the fact that what he communicates to the student and what they really do isn't always the same..The"feel and real discussion".

Would be interesting to know what Woods thinks was wrong with that golf swing and how he thought changing coach would help.
Sure, Harmon changed Woods' swing. I think the majority of coaches (outside of any one-method approach) in the same position would have done the same and made similar changes to his junior 'across the line then rip at it' approach.
Nobody else seems to remember it, but I clearly remember hearing Woods saying in some press conference or something that he wanted to 'own' his own swing like Hogan and Moe Norman. (I also vividly remember being appalled that the golf correspondent in The Daily Telegraph - a reputable British newspaper - reported this by saying Woods wanted his own swing like the legendary 'Boe' Norman. I hope for her sake that this was a printer's error and not an uninformed sound-bite name-check.) As we have said before here, he is clearly not going to do that with an instructor like Haney.
