Got to play with forum member tball88 at his home course, Woodmont. There are some Lynn Blake videos of him at Woodmont, that's the course we played. I've got a bit of a sinus infection, so I didn't sleep well last night. Beautiful day, but the course was muddy and the grass was dormant, like almost every course in the Atlanta area. They also just aerified the greens. tball88 and I played here back in last September. He saw a big difference in my swing now under the ABS modules than back in September. Today I was using the Hogan IPT's
#1 - Good driver down the middle. Good 3-wood off a tricky lie. Hit the pitch pretty well, but with those upright wedges, I pulled it a bit. Then I 2-putted from 15 feet. (E)
#2 - Hit 6-iron pretty well, but mis-clubbed a tad an found the front bunker. Decent bunker shot to 8-feet, but couldn't make the putt (+1)
#3 - Good driver down the middle on a tight, tough hole. Hit 9-iron but mis-clubbed again short. Chipped on to 5 feet, made the par save (+1)
#4 - Good driver down the right side. Had 217 yards into the wind with H2O on the right. So I played it like a par-5 and hit a 3-hybrid short of the green. Nice pitch and kicked in for par (+1)
#5 - Good driver down the middle. Hit hybrid into the green and it used the back slope like a backstop and went to about 25 feet. Good putt, but not enough and tapped in for par (+1)
#6 - Hit an 8-iron super thin and found myself in the hazard. Really didn't play the hole smart and found myself making a double (+3)
#7 - Poor driver that almost found the hazard. Hit a 5-iron well, but mis-clubbed again. Then on a tough flop on dead grass, I chunked it into the bunker. Hit a good bunker shot, but missed the 5 footer (+5)
#8 - Toe hooked a driver into the left rough. Hit a good hybrid but a little left leaving me with a tough pitch. Pulled the pitch a bit. Hit the first put 4 feet bye, but made the comebacker (+6)
#9 - Good driver down the middle. Good 3-wood. Didn't have my gap wedge and had to choke way up on a PW and hit a decent shot to 15 feet. Missed the birdie (+6)
#10 - Big driver down the right side. I caught the hybrid a little heel-ish, but still a pretty good shot from that lie. Pitched to 4-feet and made the birdie (+5)
#11 - Choked up on a PW and hit it to 12 feet. Putt never broke like I expected (+5)
#12 - Hit a bit of a low pull into the left rough. Hit a 4-iron with the ball well below my feet well, but it faded into the right bunker. Hit a blast to 5-feet, saved the par (+5)
#13 - Played a save 6-iron to the middle front part of the green and 2-putted from 40 feet (+5)
#14 - Big driver down the middle. Hit a 7-iron at the flag, great shot, but ran off to the back. Then I made the 20 foot birdie. (+4)
#15 - Nice hybrid into the par-3. 2-putted from 20 feet (+4)
#16 - Forgot to account for the wind in part due to lack of experience on the course and I found the hazard. Very good 3-wood. I then hit a 7-iron well but a little pull and found the back bunker. Wound up doubling the hole (+6)
#17 - Great driver down the middle. Was aggressive and hit a 7-iron that rolled off the back. Then I drained a 20 footer downhill again (+5)
#18 - Hit a driver very hard, but it was a pull draw. Left me with a tough lie, got greedy with a hybrid and basically hit a ground ball. I then hit a nice 6-iron, but it caught the false front and rolled shot. Didn't have the right club with me to chip with and then missed the 7 footer for par. (+6)
Overall I'll take the round. I started to lose some of the stuff that I worked on in Module 2 on holes #6-#9. Some stupid errors cost me as well. Shooting 78 with 3 doubles has some positives to that. Hit the driver okay, and hit some really good iron shots. Putted pretty well for aerified greens. Had a lot of fun as well.
