My last day with Module 2 before I get into Module 3. I played with the group I usually play with. Normally, we play 4 man teams and 1 best ball (with the handicaps at 80%) and 'bonuses.' An example of a bonus is if Joe makes a net eagle and I make a net birdie and the other 2 golfers do not make a birdie, instead of saying we are -2 for that hole we are actually -3 because we count the birdie and the eagle. Today we didn't play bonuses. Still, my team shot -17 and if we had done bonuses, we would've been -29.
We played Olde Atlanta today, starting on #18.
#18 - Good driver down the pipe, but I was in the rough with a difficult lie. Decided to lay up with a 6-iron. If I would've gone for it, I would've hit a 3-iron. Glad I laid up because I hit a servicable shot which is all I could hit. Caught a SW a little thick and 2-putted from 20 feet (E)
#1 - Big driver well up their. Hit a 9-iron beautifully to 5 feet, made the birdie (-1)
#2 - Another big driver down the middle. Had a SW to pitch in there, but didn't hit it hard enough. Almost made the 20 foot putt and kicked in for par (-1)
#3 - Good 3-iron right at the flag, but hit too much club. Had a severe downhill lie in the rough. Tried to chip with a hybrid, but hit it too hard. Shot I haven't practiced in a long time. I actually had to chip my next shot and I hit it to about a foot and kicked in for bogey (E)
#4 - Great driver that drew around the fairway bunker. Choked up all the way on a PW since I wasn't using my GW today. Hit a shot to 5 feet and made the putt. Thru my first 5 holes, I really had the chance to be -3 and had I got a break on #3, could've been -4. (-1)
#5 - Decent driver as far as contact went, but great position. Then hit a very good 3-wood that would've gone on, but the section I landed the ball on was a bit wet. Killed a chip and left myself with a 15 footer and 2-putted (-1)
#6 - Nice hybrid to the 150 marker. Hit a pretty good 7-iron, but the wind took it and left me with a 40-50 foot putt. Hit my first putt 8 feet by and 3-putted (E)
#7 - Toe hooked a driver into hill. Tough lie and went well short. Nice pitch with a LW to 5-feet and saved par (E)
#8 - Hit an 8-iron well, but pushed it well right. Left myself with a 60 foot birdie putt. Must've been aimed over there. Then I almost made the long birdie putt and tapped in for Par (E)
#9 - Good hybrid off the tee, playing it safe. Hit a 6-iron well but had a 20 foot putt on a swale. 2-putted for par (E)
#10 - Big driver down the pipe. Then I hit a PW to about 20 feet and made the putt for birdie (-1)
#11 - Hit 3-wood into the wind and in perfect position. Hit a 9-iron well, but the wind stopped it and I was on the front part of the green and 2-putted from 25 feet (-1)
#12 - Good driver down the middle. This fairway is in bad shape from the winter and it was like I was hitting off of Texas hard pan. Caught a 3-wood a little chunky but in good shape. Hit SW to the front part of the green and needed at least a full PW with that win. 2-putted from 40 feet. (-1)
#13 - Hit a 6-iron well, but just a little right of where I needed to be. Then I hit a LW chip just where I wanted to, but it rolled 15 feet bye and couldn't make the comebacker (E)
#14 - Big driver down the middle. Hit a SW well, but the lie made me pull it a bit. I then had a really difficult putt, but I hit it perfectly and almost made the putt and tapped in for par (E)
#15 - Big driver well past anywhere I've ever been on that hole. Then I hit PW from a difficult lie to 20 feet and 2-putted for par (E)
#16 - Hit a good 6-iron that was on target, but went short. Chipped on with a LW and then made a 5-footer for par (E)
#17 - Big driver down the middle. Had a LW in and caught it a little thick. I then made a great birdie putt thru a slope (-1)
I played with the Bounce Sole 1+'s for the first time today and really liked them. The new driver was a resounding success. Didn't putt very well though. Pretty amazing as I shot 70 net and had the worst net score of the group (63, 67 and a 69)
