Today it was at Olde Atlanta Club. I was not too thrilled going into the round because my sinuses were really bad from the stupid pollen and I probably got about 3 hours of sleep. I also didn't exactly light it up on the range either. I used the Apex PC's today. Course was in decent shape. Weather was beautiful. We started on #10 today.
#10 - Good driver with a slight draw down the middle. Hit a SW short of the green, needed a GW, should've choked up on a PW. Chip went by the cup, but made the 6 footer coming back (E)
#11 - hybrid nicely down the middle. The rest of my teammates were in trouble, which made a relatively easy 9-iron into a pressure packed 9-iron. Hit it a tad thin, but still wound up to 10 feet. The putt broke off hard at first and I really never had a chance (E)
#12 - Good driver up the left side of the fairway. Hooked a 3-wood a little more than I would like, but found myself in good position. Nice SW to 8-feet and made the putt (-1)
#13 - choked up 1/2 on a 6-iron and found the right side of the green. Knocked my first putt well bye, but made the 6-footer coming back (-1)
#14 - Nice driver about as well as I could hit one. choked up on a PW. the ball landed 3-feet short of the cup, right at the flag, but then took one giant bounce and put me to about 30-feet. Almost made the birdie putt and tapped in for par (-1)
#15 - Took a little off the driver, but hit it further left than I wanted. That's okay since it kicked well right down the middle. Had a tough lie in the fairway, but flushed a 7-iron at the flag. Made the 6-foot birdie putt (-2)
#16 - Hit a 6-iron and hit too much draw. Said to myself to make sure I used Module 1 and Module 2, which I did, but I needed some Module 3 to take off the draw. Anyway, I found the bunker. Hit a good bunker shot to 6-feet and then hit a putt just like i wanted to but it stopped breaking and burned the edge (-1)
#17 - Big driver down the middle. Pulled a SW a little, but I wanted to be left of the flag. Not a really good putt, but I tapped in for par (-1)
#18 - Well played driver as I played for a high fade and executed perfectly. Unfortunately it took a bad kick left for me. I wound up missing the fairway by about a foot and had a poor lie. I decided to take a hybrid out. If I was in the fairway with a good lie, I could've hit a 3-iron easily. Pulled the hybrid because of the lie, but found myself in good position. Chipped a LW to 5-feet and made the birdie putt (-2)
#1 - Toe hooked a driver a bit, but wound up in good shape. Hit an 8-iron nicely to 3 feet and made the birdie (-3)
#2 - Big driver down the middle. We are playing them down in the rough. To me, this is a 'fairway' since I went straight at the hole, but in between their actual fairway and the green is some rough. Since it was questionable, I played it down and had a bad lie. Hit a SW well, but a tad short and then 2-putted from 18 feet (-3)
#3 - Hit a 5-iron well, but pushed it a tad. I think I was aimed that way. 2-putted from 40-feet. (-3)
#4 - Hit a good driver, but over-hooked it and found myself in the rough. Probably my best shot of the day on this approach as I had to hit a hook with a 9-iron which I did to about 30 feet and then 2-putted from there. (-3)
#5 - Big driver right down the pipe. I then smashed a 3-wood as good as I could hit one. Had it been 5-yards to the right, I'm probably putting a 10 footer for eagle. Instead I catch the bunker. A weak bunker shot and I 2-putt from 15 feet (-3)
#6 - Good hybrid down the middle. Hit a 7-iron pretty good, but not enough club and I find the bunker. I then hit a nice bunker shot to 5-feet and make the putt (-3)
#7 -Big driver down the middle. Hit a low, spinning SW to 9 feet, but missed the putt. Not enough speed (-3)
#8 - Choked up on a 8-iron and hit it to 5-feet. Made the putt (-4)
#9 - Usually I hit a 3-hybrid here, but the team wasn't doing that well and I figured we needed another birdie. Plus, I was hitting the ball very well and was confident in my driver. So I took out the Big Kahuna and smashed it beautifully down the middle. I then hit a low spinning SW to 7-feet. I made the putter for birdie, lowest score in a long time. (-5)
I can't say much more about the round than the score itself. Hit the ball really great today and putted pretty well, too.
I kept M1 and M2 in tact and while I didn't focus on it too much, I think there was some semblance of M3 as well today. When I'm on with those Apex PC's, the results are really great. What was nice today is when I was a little off, I still hit good shots but I could feel me being a little off and knew what correction needed to be made and to say on top of. I was good at focusing hard on the tough shots and usually I have a let down on my 7th-12th holes, so I buckled down on those holes and played them (-1). Could've been a 62 easily.
