This time at the beautiful Cateechee Golf Club. It's a 144 slope. Weather and course conditions were perfect. Greens probably a 12 on the stimp. Used the PC's and the Bettinardi again.
#1 - Decent driver down the middle. Hit a 3-hybrid. Then flushed a 8-iron from a tough lie to 8 feet and made the putt for birdie (-1)
#2 - Hit a 5-iron to about 30 feet or so. The carts there don't have a governor on them and I almost flipped the cart on the steep downhill grade. I was probably more impressed with my ability to get the cart under control than any shot I hit today. I was on two wheels for a time there. And came out without a scratch. Then after that near cardiac arrest, I made the birdie putt (-2)
#3 - Good driver down the right side. Rifled a 3-wood to about 80 yards. Not enough on the SW into the green and just missed the birdie (-2)
#4 - Good driver down the right side. Rifled a 4-iron right at the flagstick, but a little too much. 3-putted from 40-feet (-1)
#5 - Hit a driver hard, but found the right rough. Luckily the ball ball was standing up so much in the rough I just pulled the driver out and whacked it to about 40 yards short of the green. Hit a SW pitch right at the flag and it rolled about 12 feet bye and I made the birdie (-2)
#6 - Caught a 4-iron a little high up on the face and went short of the green. Not a very good pitch and then I missed the 12 foot putt (-1)
#7 - Decent driver down the middle. Hit a nice 6-iron to the back part of the green. 2-putted nicely from 30 feet. (-1)
#8 - Good driver down the middle. Flushed a 9-iron at the flag, but it was too much and went to the back of the green. I then 2-putted from 40 feet (-1)
#9 - Good driver down the middle. Caught a 3-hybrid a little off the toe and just missed the green. Chipped to 7-feet and made the par save (-1)
#10 - Good driver down the middle. this is a pretty awesome hole. Hit a 3-hybrid to 30 feet and 2-putted again...almost made the birdie putt (-1)
#11 - Good driver down the middle. Mediocre swing with a 5-iron and made the green, but left myself with a 50-foot putt. 2-putted from there. (-1)
#12 - Heeled a driver down the right side. Tough lie, but I found the green. But I 3-putted. Really a 'ballstriking' 3-putt instead of a bad flatstick (E)
#13 - 4-iron that I didn't quite catch and found myself short of the green. Pitched to 8-feet and lipped out (+1)
#14 - Good driver down the middle. Didn't quite catch a 6-iron and missed the green. Chipped to a foot and kicked in for par (+1)
#15 - Good driver down the middle. Hit a LW to 8-feet and missed the birdie putt (+1)
#16 - Hit a 5-iron to the middle of the green. Almost an impossible 2-putt. Knocked the first one about 10 feet bye but I did make the comebacker (+1)
#17 - This is a 640 yard par-5. I hit a driver down the middle. Crushed a 3-wood to 140 and then hit a 8-iron into the wind to about 20 feet. Pretty good putt, but had to kick in for par. (+1)
#18 - Great driver down the right side. Then I thinned an 8-iron into the front bunker and hit a bunker shot to 8-feet and burned the edge. (+2)
Got a little tired on the backside as it was a 1 hour and 45 minute drive there. Started out well though. The putting kinda faltered down the stretch, I'll have to work on that more. Lots of good shots though.
