Today I played at Eastwood. I had some errands to run and I gotta say, it's nice to be in Orlando. Had I needed to do this in Atlanta, it would've been a long frustrating morning and afternoon filled with curse words. Here I finished them in about an hour, went back home and had an early lunch, went to the range and played 18 in 4.5 hours. It was very humid and about in the low 90's today a little breeze here and there. I used the Bounce Sole 1+'s today. When I got on the range, there was a golfer getting a lesson and they used me as an example for something. The instructor saw my irons, marveled at them and then said 'they have to be too flat for you' even though I had just flushed 3 in a row. Eh, what can you do.
#1 - Hit a driver mediocre and it spun a lot. Hit a 7-iron to the front part of the green. 2-putted for par. (E)
#2 - cut the corner a bit too much. Hit the driver well, but still getting used to the course. Didn't really have a second shot so I played it safe with a 7-iron. Hit a PW that hit the flag and went to 6 inches...almost eagled the hole. (-1)
#3 - Caught a 6-iron high off the face and went in the bunker. Bad lie in the bunker and wound up 12 feet to the cup. 2-putted for bogey (E)
#4 - Overdraw with a driver. Hit a 3-wood just short of the left bunker. Hit a SW to 6-feet, lousy putt and made bogey. Someday I may hit that hole in regulation (+1)
#5 - Good driver down the left side. But I caught a bad downhill lie in the fairway and the wind was in our face. I hit a 3-iron into the left bunker. Great bunker shot to 3 feet and made the putt (+1)
#6 - good driver down the middle of the fairway. Well struck 3-hybrid short of the water. Hit a SW to 8-feet, putt didn't break and mad par (+1)
#7 - Good driver down the middle. Hit a 7-iron to 8 feet, lipped out the birdie putt (+1)
#8 - Hit a 4-iron that went over the green. The pitch was difficult and I almost pulled it off. 2-putted from there (+2)
#9 - Blocked a driver into the right fairway bunker. Hit a 4-iron out of the fairway bunker okay, but it found the greenside bunker. Hit a tough bunker shot to 10 feet. Putt didn't break (+3)
#10 - The 630 yard par-5. Hit a driver down the middle. Really crushed a 3-wood. Since I've been down to Florida, my 3-wood play has been superb. Hit a 6-iron to 12 feet and made the birdie! (+2)
#11 - Perfect driver to 155 yards. Hit a 7-iron to the middle of the green and burned the edge from 20 feet. (+2)
#12 - Into the wind and I hit a 3-hybrid, but it pull-drawed a bit. I think I was aimed poorly. Didn't make much of a difference because the ball was short of the green. Hit a good chip. I thought it could double break, but I though the first break would be the main concern because it was only a 7-foot putt. But it did double break and I made bogey. (+3)
#13 - Great driver down the middle. Can't see the green and guessed with a 7-iron to 35 feet. 2-putted from there. (+3)
#14 - Didn't hit a 5-iron very well and found the bunker. Hit a so-so bunker shot and 2-putted from 15 feet (+4)
#15 - Good driver down the middle. Hit a 7-iron but mis-clubbed there a bit. Used the Rule of 12 with a 9-iron and went to a foot and kicked in for par (+4)
#16 - Good driver down the left side of the fairway. Another beautiful 3-wood to about 60 yards and then I hit a nice SW to 7-feet. The wedge play is getting better in the FLA thick bermuda. Made the putt for birdie (+3)
#17 - Having trouble hitting drivers down the right side and hit this one off the toe and hooked it into the left rough and it didn't go very far. Hit a 3-iron that found the left bunker. Hit a decent bunker blast, but 2-putted from 12 feet. (+4)
#18 - Pushed the driver a bit and found myself in the right rough. Left me with a blind shot, but hit a 7-iron. Too much club though and had to 2-putt from 40 feet (+4)
The ballstriking started to come around, but my putting is nothing to brag about and I'm still figuring out the course. Bunker play is pretty darn good right now. Driver was much better today as well. Tomorrow I should be playing North Shore. Can't wait.
