Am I getting anywhere? Is anything really changing for the better or worse? It feels hugely different, but see what you think. This is my swing from July last year: www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2z37T_4TeIThis is from yesterday: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7RVRt3i-rwI was hitting big high rights and a lot of shots out of the toe. My striking has improved. I miss more drives left than right now, but still have too many penalty shots. Wouldn't say my scoring is that different as I could knock it round in level before if I avoided the uber-rights or got lucky. My highest scores are probably not as bad, but there is still no real consistency. I have started hitting it a little further than I was, but I am still about twenty yards shorter than I was when I was sixteen. Comments, advice, anything appreciated as ever!

It used to be every now and then, but I have been taking my camera to the range every time recently. I think I have been getting too picky about making sure I am finding the 'right' positions in my backswing, etc., so am not going to video my swing for at least a month. Let's see how that works...

Based on the last round, I does not work and no, I am not getting anywhere. Hit six big hooks, all lost balls (there is water left and right of pretty much every hole). Odd as my driving is normally one of the stronger parts of my game.
However, I got down in two from outside 120 yards five times - all stuck within ten feet. Sadly I had either dropped out of a marsh or something already, otherwise would have had many more birdies. Quite promising in some ways then!
The clubface is clearly closed, so will be getting to the range to get some more forearm rotation into the backswing and try and get the face a bit more open.

The clubface is clearly closed, so will be getting to the range to get some more forearm rotation into the backswing and try and get the face a bit more open. At least you are learning, thru the D-Plane knowledge I may add. I'd also do a check of the grip. I can't view your videos right now, but I'd check where the clubface is at the top of the swing and then at various points in the downswing. And your aim may be off. If your aiming the clubface left of your target, a good swing will still result in a closed clubface. 3JACK

I preferred your old swing. You release a little better. This new one it looks like you're trying to shut the face and then drag it through impact. You're obviously also trying to take the club back more with your hands and vertical. I'd prefer to see some left shoulder push back and let those forearms relax. Then just turn the lower body instead of messing with those hands and arms.

Thanks for the comments. I have indeed been learning my D-plane lessons. Went a lot better on the range last night trying to fan the face open a bit more on the way back and get my forearms rotating. At least it felt like I could release it without fearing the low left.
Ringer, I see what you mean. My problem with any kind of left shoulder push action was that I got way way inside, and would end up high and across the line at the top (after some dubious coaching at college). With a shut clubface, this is not pretty. I probably have taken it a bit too far and need to soften the face and let everything relax a bit to get some of this release back instead of the kind of hold-off terrified-of-releasing look I have now.
Thanks again. Will keep going and let you know!
