I have practiced enough to find the right distances, heighth and roll to the pin from 60 yards and in. I was quite efficient a few times where I would play for a few $$$ amongst my buddies and local course hustlers, once upon a time. lol
Anyrate, what do you guys(all including pros) find the best method under pressure to perform, easiest and simplest?
My go to shots around the green within 20~30 yards were cutlob, and pitch and run with a wedge when there are lots of room.
Can everyone share their techniques to enhance our knowledge? Does anyone practice "spot pitch?"
I did go through David Pelz's one day school in Ft Lauderdale which I thought was interesting along with his 64* pop-wedge. It was easy to hit that high 18 yards carry shot.

I still use a lot of Rule of 12 stuff even with pitches. Right now I'm not carrying a GW, but I can still run into times where I may need a PW. But usually that comes down to whether I should hit a LW or a SW. Often times you can tell what you need by looking at it, but sometimes I need to pace it off to get a definitive answer.
I basically try to hit the shot needed, with the idea that *if possible* I want to get the ball on the green as quickly as I can. I see a lot of juniors flopping shots all over the place, but when you watch the pros on TV, they are more apt to hit a lower pitch, get it on the green quickly and let it roll up there. I can hit flops pretty well (used to be an excellent flop shot artist in college), but distance control is always an issue. You can hit one pretty good and go well past your intended land target. Plus, tight lies are a bitch.

Once I bought a lobwedge with 2*bounce to combat that tight-ass lie lobshots, only to find to go thru under the grass when used elsewhere giving me that temporay shock, "did I just whiff or go under where ball didn't move?" lol I am quite amazed how money players finds way to get to the hole. I once saw this man hit a 40 yards shot with a putter, and he used his putter from a green side bunker a few times, wtf? Watching that kinda shit effected my game, so I stop watching him and played my game. Thru my experiences, I find the money players run the ball more, alot more, seeking high %. fearlessgolfer
