Bentwater Golf Club is a Mike Dasher and Arthur Hills designed course. It plays 6,869 from the back tees and is a 142 slope. The slope is probably about right as this is a very difficult course. While it's not long in yardage, about 11-12 of the holes are uphill, making it play more like 7,200-7,300 yards.
The course is another one of the courses that was supposed to be a cush country club, then a cush public course that eventually just got bought out by Canongate golf and is finally making money.
Generally the course is in really good condition from tee to green. the greens are probably a 10 on the stimp day in and day out.
Like most North Georgia courses it's a hilly terrain and most of the holes are going uphill. It also has some extremely tough greens like #4, #5, #9, #10, #14 and #18.
I think even for me if I was having a very good day I'd struggle to go under par because there's too many holes that you're simply gong to bogey and I don't consider any of the par-5's as easy to birdie.
The best holes on the course are #1, #10, #18.
I don't like #2-#4 and #15.
#5 is the toughest hole on the course and I've debated whether or not that is a good hole. It's about 450 yards and slightly uphill with a slight dogleg right. If you miss the fairway right, you will likely kick into the deep rough or the woods and be forced to layup. It's a pretty driving hole though. Then the shot into the green is pretty with water in front of the green. But the only thing I hate is they created a 2-tier green on a long par-4. So you can hit a good shot with a longer iron and still get screwed.
Overall, it's a solid golf course that will really test your all around skill.
