Played Eastwood again today. Very breezy, upper 80's to low 90's, but didn't feel bad in a cart. Course still in good condition. Before my round I went on the range and was hitting the ball pretty well.
#1 - Hit a good 3-wood with a sizeable draw off the tee. Hit a 8-iron flush to about 20 feet and drilled the first putt way by, but made the 4-foot comebacker (E)
#2 - Good driver down the middle followed by a good 3-wood. Hit a LW well, but the thing took one hop and went 7 feet past the cup, downhill. Not what I wanted, but I made the putt anyway. (-1)
#3 - Flushed a 5-iron at the pin, but the wind held it up and the ball plugged up against the lip of the bunker. Wound up hitting the lip and going back into the bunker. I then knocked my next sand shot in the cup! Great sandy. (-1)
#4 - Hit a very good driver to the best position I've ever been on this approach, 185 to the middle of the green. Then I caught a 5-iron chunky and I have yet to hit this GIR. But I wound up okay, was in between clubs on the Rule of 12, so I took a 7-iron which was a little long, but made the 5-foot comebacker (-1)
#5 - Push faded a driver a bit. Was barely in the rough, but left with a tricky lie with the ball below my feet, but uphill. Hit a 4-iron dead square, but the wind carried it into the bunker. Hit a bunker blast to 3-feet and saved the par (-1)
#6 - Hit a driver pretty good, but a tad off the toe and it hooked into the fairway bunker. Then I hit a beautiful hybrid out of the fairway bunker to 155 yards. Wind in my face, so I choked up 1/2 way on a 6-iron and hit it so-so, but found the green. Good putt, but just short (-1)
#7 - Driver that pretty much sliced because of the wind but still found the fairway. Then I hit a 6-iron well, but blocked it and it went short. Pitched to 8-feet and made the putt (-1)
#8 - Hit a 5-iron well, but like the last hole, out to the right and high. Hit a nice pitch to 6-feet, but left myself with a big breaking putt and my par save never had a chance. (E)
#9 - Hit a driver into a big wind and hit it too high, but it found the fairway. Caught a hybrid chunky, something I haven't done in awhile. Then I thought I hit a nice pitch, but it spun more than I though and had a 15 foot par save which I couldn't convert (+1)
#10 - Big block slice to the right. Followed by a good 3-hybrid (tough lie) and a 3-wood into the wind. Decent pitch, but not enough and 2-putted for bogey (+2)
#11 - I think in the end, hopefully when I'm about in Module 6 I'll be ready to start thinking about making my gamer bag up and get a Trackman fitted driver. I spin this thing way too much. I tried hitting a low boring shot to the wind. Hit it solid, but it went well up into the air, spun like a ton and didn't get much role. Had a 3-wood into a green that somedays I have a 7-iron into and I was still well short. I'm thinking I need shafts with higher kick points now. Prety good pitch to 8-feet but missed the putt (+3)
#12 - Good swing with a 3-hybrid to 35 feet. Putt was well downhill and I knocked it 8-feet bye, but I made the comebacker (+3)
#13 - Bad push slice into the hazard. I then flushed a 7-iron to the green and 2-putted for bogey (+4)
#14 - Hit a good 3-iron a bit low to the back of the green and 2-putted nicedly from 40 feet (+4)
#15 - Pretty decent driver then went long. Hit a nice 9-iron to 20 feet and lipped out the birdie try (+4)
#16 - Good driver down the middle. Mediocre 3-wood followed by a solid SW to 15 feet. Hit the first putt too hard, but made the 3-foot comebacker (+4)
#17 - Low pull draw into the left rough. Tough lie in the rough and sort of chubbed it out of there. Nice pitch to 5 feet, but the putt broke more than I thought it would (+5)
#18 - Another low pull draw down the left side. Didn't go very far. Hit a 6-iron flush, but the club slipped a tad and it hooked, but found the left side of the green and then I just missed the 25 footer for birdie (+5)
A tough day really, but I think there were some positives here as I had a stretch in the beginning and then a stretch of 12 thru 16 where I was taking good swings. My pitch shots are really good right now, my chipping is pretty solid and my putting is decent. I just have to get more comfortable with the swing changes. I plan on starting Module 3 on Monday, unless my range sessions are really piss poor. I'm starting to get more comfortable and I think I figured some things out a bit, now it's a question of getting in a groove and regaining the confidence in my ballstriking that I had a month ago.
