I'm going to be getting a Casio soon to tape my golf swing and I don't have a digital camera for pics so I would like to take that as well. But mostly it'll be used for golf stuff.
I'm curious as to what type of Casio would posters recommend and what are all of the components needed to use a Casio and what's the best tripod, etc.

EX-FH100 - newer version of the EX-FC100 which I have (Cloran too, I believe)
EX-FH25 - if you want something a bit larger with more features.
Tripod: Joby GorillaPod. You'll want one that is hefty enough to support which camera you get. I got the Original, and it fits nicely into the side pocket of my golf bag. If all 3 legs are straight, you can also put it into an empty club slot of the bag.
You'll want to get a high "Class" (like Class 6) memory card with lots of memory. They aren't very expensive at all. $20 for an 8GB one at Amazon.
The camera will come with a cable that has USB at one end that will plug into your computer. I don't know if you're a mac or windows guy, but a basic video editing program is typically sufficient. I use iMovie and can share my export settings if you're interested. The video editing on the camera is pretty easy to use as well for simply trimming the beginning and ending of the videos off so you don't have to download that to your computer.
Your computer (more likely if it's a laptop) might also have an SD card reader. You can just take the card out of the camera and pop it in there instead of using the USB cable to transfer.
I think you'll really be impressed by the slow motion recording and all the great features on these cameras.

I have exactly the same setup as pavaveda except in addition to the gorillapod for quick filming I have a regular tripod that I got from Best Buy, its nothing special.
The 100 has all the features that I need really. I am not into photography so the fact that the casio is not the highest digital photo rated camera does not bother me at all.
I wonder how long before these cheap cameras not only do slo mo standard def but also add the high def slo mo? I bet its in the next addition or so.

Awesome. Thanks.
But, other posters...let's keep this thread going. It's funny how I can go onto other forums and almost nobody goes over the specifics of what is needed for recording your swing.
Thanks again, guys.

I use an fh 20 but I hear fh100 is good enough and more portable. Don't use a tripod. Got a 16 gig card for mine. Use a card to usb converter to connect to computer.
It's all pretty straight forward really.

Why wouldn't you use a tripod, John?

I usually only use the camera to talk about body movements and impact alignments.
I don't feel it's necessary for those elements.
I also don't use it for myself. If someone is using to video there own swing, a tripod is clearly a necessity.

Question about the EX-FH100 .... how much memory does the base package have, and about how many slomo 420fps swings can that save, if anyone knows?

Not sure what the "base package" is, but you can put any memory card in it you'd like... and 210 fsp is perfect for seeing your golf swing. 420 or higher is a bit overkill, imho.
I have an 8GB disc in mine, but I don't save anything on it. The most I've had on it at one time is 8 vids at 210 fsp about 20 sec each, and a few hundred pics.
It comes with Youtube loader software so it instantly downloads the vids when you connect the camera to your computer. Click "upload" and the vids get uploaded to your youtube account. Super simple.

I'm probably going to wind up getting the EX-FH20. I like the picture and I wouldn't mind getting a pretty good digital camera.
One of the things growing up was my parents would always get top line technology, but about 7 years after it had been out on the market. Never really grew up around getting the newest, greatest thing. So I try to break those habits, even though the EX-FH20 isn't quite the newest thing out there.
