Another day of persimmon and sneakers golf. Played Eastwood. This time I'm using the Bounce Sole 1+ irons (3-9 iron). Got small bucket of balls beforehand. M3 is coming in nicely into my swing. Still tought to get the thought out of my head of not swinging out to the right and instead turning the shoulders flat thru and well after impact.
#1 - I play off the whites (6,500 yards) when I play persimmon and this is a short hole from there. Says 348 from the whites and I hit a 3-iron off the ground to 138, so a 210 yard 3-iron, which is exactly what I want for distance. This was striped beautifully, straight as an arrow. Then I hit a 8-iron and a little pull draw to the left fringe, but I 2-putt and make par (E)
#2 - Got a little under the persimmon and lost some distance. Played it safely with a 5-iron. Then I stuck a 9-iron to 10 feet and made the birdie (-1)
#3 - Hit a 5-iron well, but lost it in the sky. No worries, I see it land on the green to 25 feet. Good run at the first putt, but no cigar. (-1)
#4 - Hit a pretty good driver for persimmon standards, but a little too straight and this is a dogleg right. I wind up in the rough, 194 away into the wind. Hit a decent 3-iron, but pushed it a tad into the right bunker. Blast out to 15 feet and miss the par save (E)
#5 - Good driver right down the middle. Hit a 7-iron alright but it wound up nicely to 13 feet and I lipped out the birdie try (E)
#6 - Finally, a great driver down the right side of the fairway. Play it safe with a 5-iron and then hit a 9-iron to 15 feet. Going right at the cup, but not enough steam (E)
#7 - Crunched another driver with slight push and tailing fade. Actually hit this one too far and almost went in the H20. Had a lie in some weeds, but the ball was perched up. Hit a 9-iron that I thought wasn't going to get there, but wound up 15 feet away. So-so birdie try, an aeration hole knocked it off line. (E)
#8 - Pretty decent 7-iron, but I flew the green. Mediocre pitch and a 2-putt bogey (+1)
#9 - Back foot slipped on my driver swing and I found the right fairway bunker. Hit a decent 4-iron out of the bunker, short of the green. So-so pitch to 10 feet and 2-putted (+2)
Much much better golf swings compared to last Wednesday. I think understanding Module 3 better has helped me quite a bit. Lag Erickson told that the shorter irons will be struck great doing this, but the longer irons and driver may take some time. I actually think I've already got those down pretty competently, it's just a case of strengthening those muscles and grooving the action. Very happy with today's performance.
