Played my second and final round on vacation here in San Diego. Played Talega golf course which is a Fred Couples course and one of my favorite all time tracks, played here like 6 years ago and loved it. Front 9 is pretty traditional with mild elevation change but lots of water and contouring, bunkers. The back 9 winds through the hills with more elevation changes and and the more challenging holes.
I think I really have found something working my hands in and clubhead up.
12/13 fairways
11/18 greens
30 putts
The greens I missed were long irons over the water and a couple sloppy shots, they happen.
Shot 75, and considering the track was one of my best rounds ever. It definitely was the best ball striking round ever, draws, fades, high shots, low, did whatever I wanted to the ball.
Going into 18 I need a par to secure a real nice round, its downhill but the second shot is trecherous, over water but it should be a short iron. I skied the tee ball, did that twice again, I had 227 to the pin, here is a picture of what I was facing. Pic was from the tee, I was just in front of the bunker in the center of the pic.
So good round, layup and play of a par right? Save the good round? Nope, off the downslope I picked a line at the right bunker and smoked a draw that cleared the water by a couple yards 25 feet left of the pin. It was a career shot really, and you cant miss the birdie putt right? I didnt! 75. Handicap is down to 5.5 now.
