Only got 9 holes in today at Eastwood as the rain started to come down. It poured yesterday evening and the course was very wet. Still using the Bounce Sole 1+ irons. Probably will switch to the PC5's next week as I am supposed to get the 3-iron and pitching wedge on Monday.
#1 - Teed it very low and hit a driver and piped it down the middle. Flushed a 9-iron at the flag, but was about 5 yards short of the green. Chipped to a foot and tapped in for par (E)
#2 - Nice driver down the pipe. Hit a 3-wood well from a tough lie and then had to choke up on a 9-iron, but got it to 15 feet. Putt was dead on line, but about 2 revolutions short (E)
#3 - Well hit 4-iron, but pushed it a tad and missed the green to the right. Decent pitch to 6-feet and drained the putt (E)
#4 - push faded a driver. had to pitch an 8-iron to 80 yards. Hit a SW to 15 feet and missed the putt (+1)
#5 - tried to tee the ball up a bit and hit up on the driver. But sometimes I really close the clubface and hit a snap hook. And that's what I did here, snap hooked it left. Still plenty of room, but a poor lie and hit a 3-hybrid into the bunker. Bad bunker shot. Followed by good speed on the putt, but just missed (+2)
#6 - Nice driver down the middle. Hit a 3-hybrid well off the toe, but down the middle. Another example of how understanding D-Plane has helped make the game more fun for me. In the past, I would probably worry myself with that shot because I would misunderstand what happened there and try to fix it incorrectly. Now I pretty much know what happened and I don't even worry about it because nobody is going to swing everything perfectly.
Anyway, hit a nice 9-iron to 11 feet, but didn't have enough juice on the putt. (+2)
#7 - Pretty decent driver down the middle. Hit a 6-iron to 25 feet and 2-putted from there. (+2)
#8 - Flushed a 4-iron, but went over the green. I really need to get a GPS out here. Next weekend I plan on getting some time on Trackman, so I can measure my distances there, althoug I hit 4 different sets of Hogans, so I'll need more Trackman time to get them down. Good pitch to 6 feet and made the putt (+2)
#9 - Okay, I got sick of this hole so I aimed at the #1 fairway, drilled it and found the #1 fairway and had about 3 clubs less into the green. To me, I will count that as a fairway since I wound up exactly where I wanted to. I then flushed a 5-iron to 40 feet and just burned the edge and made par (+2)
I hit the ball again better than my stats will show. Some poor decisions this week and bad yardage judgements. I'll get those straightened out. Speed was better with putts today.
