a 33.5" wedge?
That's what it said in an article in Golfweek (at least I think it was Golfweek... maybe Golf World... I'll have to check my bathroom).
That's REALLY short!!

It was my understanding that it was his 60* wedge which he only used for chipping and very close shots. It gives "getting closer to one's work" real meaning. I am close to actually trying it since I find myself always gripping down on my 60* wedge anyway.

Back then the flop shot wasn't nearly as used as much as it is today. When I was in college around '96 I probably hit more flop shots than pretty much any golfer I had played with. Of course, I had to as my ballstriking was pretty poor back then and I would miss greens by a mile and in bad position for the up and down. However, my flop shot skills back then were really great and I was a good putter. You see more flop shots today because the PGA Tour game is mostly bomb-n-gouge and the iron play isn't as good as it used to be.
