The 9 iron from my '58 Sunbursts snapped inside the hosel (if it wasn't for s--t luck I wouldn't have any at all)... right where the pin goes through the shaft.
I pulled the head off and to my surprise there was wood inside the hosel.
Was this standard practice back in the day? I've never seen it before...

Weird. Maybe post over at ABS or the Persimmon forum to see if anyone has seen that before?

Could be... they were made in '58 and they havn't been reshafted from what I can tell...

wooden dowel is common and increases feel, similar to sensicore but better in my opinion
