Courses You Plan On Playing This Summer

Here's what I plan on playing:

Pine Barrens at World Woods - Public course, ranked in the top 100 of ALL courses (private or public) in the US. May play this next weekend if I feel up to it. www.worldwoods.com/

Rio Pinar Golf Club - Private Club, but I'm considering joining it next year. Supposedly they will allow residents 1 free round if they are serious about joining. I'll need to get my FL driver's license first, which I'll be getting in 2 weeks. The PGA Tour used to play here, now they have a bunch of mini-tour and state amateur qualifiers here. Supposedly a lot of mini-tour golfers are members here. Probably going to play this late July or so. www.riopinar.com

Celebration Golf Club - This is where I got to use the Trackman at. This place and the surroundings are AWESOME. Just a couple of miles from Disney. 40 minute drive for me. I'll probably play here when I go to use the Trackman. www.celebrationgolf.com/

Orange County National - I'll be playing the Panther Lake course which is where they'll be having PGA Tour Q-School. I drove by here a couple of weeks ago and it's in a really weird spot as it's on a stretch next to some very nicely developed 6 lane highway, but there's nothing really going on here. I believe that when they do the PGA Merchandising Show, this is where they go to test the clubs and demos outdoors. I'll probably play here once I get my license since that means cheaper greens fees for me. www.ocngolf.com/

Southern Dunes - This will be another hike for me, but seems like it is well worth it. Rated 4.5 stars from Golf Digest. I'll probably play it on my birthday, which is August 27th. www.southerndunes.com

I have an industry trade show in San Francisco at the end of the month and I really want to play Harding Park. I would also like to play Torrey Pines South by the end of the year. I have lived in Southern California all my life and never made it out there.

Torrey Pines....would love to play that. I think TPC Sawgrass is a fine course, but not at $495. I'd probably play Pebble if it cost that much.

I will probably get shot for saying this but I played Torrey Pines and just was not all that impressed, of course it was cool and overcast which is a bit of the norm, but I just did not find it in very good shape or all that inspiring.

I have got to play two courses that were once dog tracks and now are pretty nice up here in N. Idaho this summer. Priest Lake (http://www.priestlakegolfcourse.typepad.com), and Mirror Lake(so small I can't find website?). In the next month though I have return invites to play Gozzer Ranch (http://www.gozzerranchclub.com/golf/) in Couer D' Alene as well as BlackRock (http://www.blackrockidaho.com/golf.html). Those will be my 2nd time around on those but I am really looking forward to Circling Raven(http://www.cdacasino.com/golf.html)! Nice change of pace from the AZ courses.

Just wanted to add that I got to play Circling Raven yesterday. If anyone finds themselves by Coeur D Alene Idaho for any reason, I highly recommend you drive south 23 miles and play this course. It was awesome! Not only do you see no houses, but you almost don't see any other golf holes besides the one you are on. Just awesome. Saw John Elway playing there with friends also. We asked him why he wasn't playing back up the road at Black Rock which is his home course, he said that Circling Raven was better!

Pretty random spot in the US, but if you find yourself there, go check it out.

TPC Sawgrass can be played for more like $225. Richie check out Sanctuary Ridge, neat course and was in great shape last time I played it.

Even with the tips for playing in the heat, I'm planning on staying indoors most of the summer.

We're planning a trip to the new Faldo course in Cambodia for later in the year though and there are still some places in Da Nang I want to play.
