Went down to North Shore today to hopefully redeem myself. Weather was pretty good for a Florida summer. Probably my last days with the PC5's for a little while as I will be gaming the Hogan Apex PC's.
#1 - Push faded a driver into the fairway. Decent pitch to 15 feet and just missed the birdie (E)
#2 - Push faded a driver into the right side of the fairway. Flushed a 7-iron to 12 feet and the putt never broke (E)
#3 - A high pull into the wind, but still found the fairway. Good 3-hybrid to 40 feet and left the first putt well past the cup, but made a nice 7-foot comebacker. (E)
#4 - Best driver of the day here. Hit a nice 5-iron to 25 feet and then drained the putt (-1)
#5 - Good driver down the right side. Hit an Equalizer that came out low and didn't quite get to the back flag. 2-putted from 30 feet (-1)
#6 - Hit a persimmon 3-wood very nicely to 15 feet. Good putt, but the ball never broke (-1)
#7 - Decent driver followed up by a good 3-hybrid and a good Equalizer that never spun back. First putt well short, but made the 2-footer (-1)
#8 - Caught a 9-iron a smidge fat. Too bad because it was flagsville. This went short and a Rule of 12 chip to a foot and made par (-1)
#9 - Good driver followed up by a good persimmon 3-wood and flushed a 9-iron right at the flag, but about 20 feet short. Then I 2-putted from there (-1)
#10 - Decent driver down the right side. Bad push with a 9-iron from an uphill lie. Decent pitch to 10 feet and missed the par save (E)
#11 - So-so driver down the right side of the fairway. Hit a persimmon 3-wood well, but the ball faded into the waste bunker. Good SW out of the bunker, but too far and had to 2-putt from 30-feet (E)
#12 - Didn't really catch the driver here, but found the fairway. Flushed a 4-iron but it wound up just short. Good Rule of 12 chip to 5 feet and drained the par save (E)
#13 - Another driver I didn't quite catch, but down the middle. Hit a 5-iron to 30 feet. Nice roll on this putt and tapped in for par (E)
#14 - Flushed a 7-iron, but pulled it into the water. At this point I was down by 5 strokes (I'll get to it later) so I aimed at the flag and it went into the drin. Pitched to the green and 2-putted (+2)
#15 - So-so driver just in the rough. Good play with a 5-iron short of the green. Then I hit an Equalizer flush at the flag, but again, 25 feet short. 2-putted from there (+2)
#16 - Tried a persimmon 3-wood but skied it into the hazard Then I hit a 8-iron to 30 feet and 2-putted (+3)
#17 - Flushed a 3-iron, but it landed a foot short. Hit a Rule of 12 chip too hard, but made the 7 footer coming back (+3)
#18 - Pretty good driver down the middle. Pushed a 3-iron to the right and then flopped nicely to 7-feet. Bad putt (+4)
I was playing again with the jr. golfer that I shot 68 here with a few weeks ago. He shot 69 today and had he been a bit patient, He could've shot 67 because he took a dumb bogey on 15 on a shot that just wasn't probable to happen.
Anyway, I was far more accurate and consistent with my irons than they were. I dare say I could hit my 6-iron with more accuracy than they could hit their 9-iron. But, they hit the ball much further than I did. I think that will change a bit once I get different clubs. I hit the driver better, but not as well as my stats show. The shot on 14 was stupid because I should've just hit a push draw into the hol.
