This year we are finally doing it... me and three pals are off to Scotland and the home of golf. 6th April about 7'ish AM I will be teeing off on The Old Course, St Andrews. I am excited/anxious/worried and a whole bunch of other stuff.
I usually go and watch The Open too and this year it is at St Andrews - so I will have another trip later in the summer where I can watch the top players play the same course I will have played just a few months earlier... that will be interesting too.
My biggest concern at the moment is due to swing changes I am playing the worst golf I can recall !! I had hoped I'd be on the up by now and progressing not going backwards.
But regardless I am still looking forward to that one round of golf this year more than anything else.
Have you got any special trips or key rounds you are planning?

Sounds awesome Dave! Can't imagine playing there.
My father in law, who got me into golf, and I have been talking about going up to Treetops in mid May for a golf weekend--two rounds a day and a 9-hole round on their par-3 course. I told myself a couple of months ago that I want to be prepared enough by then to enjoy myself without worrying too much about what I shoot. Will be tough or nearly impossible to make that happen, but it's definitely something to look forward to.

I also have a nice day out planned just before going to St Andrews and at the end of March. Last couple of years I've been invited on a Pro Am event hosted by the Essex PGA - we play Princes next door to St Georges. So that will be nice practice for St Andrews. I did well last year - would you believe I even beat a few of the pros - however - to be fair to them - I played well and the wind was an equalizer !! You either got lucky or you got blown off course. On one hole I aimed 50 yards right of the green - way out into the rough and hit a low cut shot with my three iron and it was a good shot - and it finished 20 yards on the left hand edge of the green (that's right 70yards of sideways movement from the wind with cut spin to fight the wind!) So I'll enjoy that as well - but I'm hoping to get some good photos of the St Andrews trip - I'll post them up cheers pavaveda

I'm looking forward to playing Poland Spring Golf Course in Poland Spring, Maine this summer. An old friend of mine started an annual golf tourney/booze bender at this old Donald Ross course, and it will be my 3rd year attending.
About 15 of us will rent a big ski house for the weekend and play something like 18, 36, 27 over 3 days. There are alot of special rules (OB, hazards, 3-putts all receive a 1 beer penalty) and prizes are awarded to the worst players. For example, last year we kept track of total putts, and the guy with the most putts over the weekend got a brand new Odyssey putter.
The focus is obviously on good times rather than good golf, but it's a very fun course for any level golfer IMO. While you guys are trying to get your swing in shape to play St. Andrews, I'll be trying to get my tolerance up so I can still hit a ball after 7 drinks!
