I just bought an old set of irons at a yard sale this weekend. The shafts are marked as a "C" flex.
Anyone know what "C" means?

Try taking a picture of the shaftband and posting it. Maybe it will help with identification. Never heard of a C though.

I remember seeing something in the Equipment Forum at ABS about these flex descriptors: ABC I'm guessing C is regular flex but if I can find any info I will post back.

I remember that old post at ABS as well...seems like it was all a guess though---it's most likely an old MacGregor club?...I have some as well.
anecdotal evidence only---they are regular shafts...I need at least a stiff to hit the ball (my gamers are 7.0) and those "C" flexes are all over the place...
My "C" flexes are in some beautiful old eye-o-matic persimmon that I will have to re shaft one of these days...it sucks to have to re-finish, but I cannot hit those shafts!
A few months back, I tried (for several hours!) the typical online searches for the "C" flex and came up empty. Wish I could be of more help bent bob

If you have a clubfitter or a golf store, you may just want to see if they have a shaft frequency machine and get them measured. My guess is that the frequencies will be all over the place, but will generally read a regular flex.

From a google search .... www.srkgolf.com/pdf/shafts.pdf.... "for R/S (C) flex" I didn't download the pdf, but I got that from the google description, so based on that, if it's a parallel tip shaft, I guess you can make it play anywhere from Regular to Stiff, depending on how you tip it.

Thanks for the link--- My "C" flex shafts have to be tapered...They look to be original shaft in some old macgregor persimmon...parallel didnt some along till the 70's... I have a feeling the OP's are similar
