Hi guys. I'm Anthony. I'm just a plain ordinary guy that's been resurecting my golf swing for the past few months. My swing model is Hogan. I've put together a swing project to see just how close, (if at all) that I can come to the Hogan swing dynamic. I'm keeping a bunch of notes and videos of my progress.
I see a few of the great guys here from thesandtrap and figured I would post my swing journal here too, in case there is someone else as idiotic as me trying to copy a swing lol, so I can get some Hogan pointers.
I'll get it all posted sometime this weekend with all my videos. I started tweeking the swing in July of this year. Been dabbling in the game for 4 years.
Hopefully, I can get near Hoganism within a couple of years.

Thanks Jeff. This probably sounds ridiculous, but I haven't read 5 lessons, and don't plan to until I get as close to the Hogan swing as possible. I'm using Hogan videos as my training aid. Thanks for the links. I know of kmiyahira. He does a good analysis of Hogan and others.

Why hogan? Are you trying to become a better golfer or just look like one?
I apologize if those questions come across as being harsh, I don't mean them to. I'm trying to ask in a serious tone, but that often fails to come across online. I've read some of your posts elsewhere and I wonder what the motive would be to post here and at Manzella's as well. Are you looking for Feedback? Tips? Are you trying to build some kind of following? Again, serious questions.

I am actually the one that suggested to BHSP (ben hogan swing project) that he might try posting his quest here after it got deleted at Manzella's forum. I PM'd him there and suggested that he could continue his story here. I thought it was an interesting journey he was undertaking and figured there might be a few here that found it interesting. Plus, I find his writing style to be pretty entertaining and I chuckled out loud a few times reading his stuff.
I felt like, and still do, that this forum is a more open place to discuss our individual demons and desires since there is not a particular teacher or methodology that must be defended or promoted by the forum. I see Richie's forum as a "free range" forum where there aren't any fences to maintain or knock down, and no estates to promote.
So, I am probably the guy that pointed BHSP to post here.

That's fine... But I'm curious as to his answers as well. I don't view this particular forum as a free range per se. Everyone is free to discuss, debate, etc... But what does value does this add? Whats being brought to the table?
I'm being serious, not snippy. If there is some constructive information being discussed, great. If not I'd think this thread would be better placed under the "promote yourself" section, entertaining or otherwise.

Are you looking for Feedback? Tips? Are you trying to build some kind of following? Again, serious questions. All your questions are understood. Trust me, I've heard muuuuuuuch more harsh ones lol. I am definitely looking for feedback, but what I'm really after is to find someone else that is doing something like I am. I want to know how successful they were, what they learned, and if they accomplished the goal. From what all my friends tell me, Hogan had a once-in-a-lifetime swing that was tied to his DNA. I don't believe the statement "you should just work on the swing you were born with." Your swing is whatever you want it to be. I did post at Manzella's for the same purpose; to find someone that is working towards Hogan mechanics, and not just a guy that has read the book, and applies a few of the fundamentals to his own swing, but someone that has a goal of actually "duplicating" the swing. To hit the same positions Hogan did. Transition, angle hinged impact, helicopter finish.....all of it. Manzella seems to be a good guy, but he did not like my thread, probably cause it didn't tie in to his teachings, but that makes perfect sense. The "science" behing my swing is simple: analyze the crap out of every Hogan video I can get my hands on, and adjust/tweek my movements until they are as close as I can get them. Maybe that will take 1 year, maybe 25 lol. I need feedback, feedback, feedback, and plenty of talk regarding Hogan's swing. One thing I've learned since July is that each person seems to have a different perspective when analyzing Hogan. Hopefully, someone on one of these forums will point out something I just don't see in the Hogan vids. Also, Im not trying to become a better golfer. However, If I am able to get to my goal, I think that indirectly, my golf game and ballstriking will improve, but where the ball goes, and how it's contacted is not a concern. Only Hogan mechanics. And I don't see any "following" here. Who would ever want to keep up with a guy dressing in 1964 clothing and swinging wooden clubs?? Now if this were a Ricky Fowler project........there would probably be followers for miles...........all dressed in orange for sure!!!! lolol

Is anyone else here on a Hogan swing quest like me? If so, I'd love to know where you are in your swing?
Also, I'm after any Hogan images and videos that aren't already on youtube. I'm stinkin stuck on understanding what Hogan's wrists are doing during the takeaway; when they reach the side of the hips. I have not seen a clear enough vid or pic yet.

Is anyone else here on a Hogan swing quest like me? If so, I'd love to know where you are in your swing? Everyone would like to swing like Hogan but I have found some of the things he did very difficult, not a good model for me. I knew it was only a matter of time before your thread was deleted there. When I posted "good luck" over there it was two fold, good luck in your quest and good luck to that thread. BM's forum really is not for talking about general swing theory but swing theory he espouses. I had a swing thread that was about 7 pages that was a history my swing work but the minute I mentioned I started working with a TGM AI it got wiped out.

Yep, there are a lot of difficulty to Hogans swing. For me, particularly his flexibility. If you check out youtube, see the pitch elbow vid, where his club drops behind his shoulder. But there is also the vid of him in the Mr. Rogers sweater, where the swing isn't as full. That one should be no problem getting close to, but I want to try one of the ones from his younger years first.

greg-
Brian told me in one of his calls that he really doesn't like it when forum members post their swings looking for advice, and his instructors get annoyed when other forum members offer advice: that's what they (the instructors) are supposed to be getting paid to do. He said there will be a lot of changes in the New Year and no more forum member swing threads will be one of them.
