you should feel good about the work you have done. your upper center is pretty stable and the rest of the swing is solid. the only thing I see that I continue to worry about is the look of the clubhead during transistion. it has a quick jerky move up and away and then settles nicely.
who has the patience to hit 350 balls. who has the time who has the money at a driving range :-)

Thanks R3J. You can even see it in the 3rd video... I'm in control, swinging so slowly, and my muscles are fighting to move my upper center backward. Crazy. Thanks tightdraw. I know... it bothers me too. So many things to work on, so little time. ------------------------ Here are a few images that show some of the changes that have taken place with my swing recently. The image on the left is from the first swing video I sent to Spencer Huggins at the start of our online lessons. The image on the right is of a swing I made at the end of my range session today.

What is the yellow circle in the second one showing? Have you got the clubface more open at the top?
If so, would be interested to know why you have done this. And how!

The yellow circle is there just to highlight the change in the face at P4, just as you noted. Spencer started with the basics, grip, set-up, etc. To answer your question as to "why" I'm making these changes: It's to optimize the pattern Spencer has me working toward. Let me hop on my soap box for a minute: It's important to note that the changes I've made; and continue to make, are leading to a pattern that Spencer and I both feel would be optimal for ME. At the beginning I didn't know if I was able to make even the simpleist of those changes. After floundering a bit with my first few range sessions I asked Spencer about keeping the grip strong, face closed at P4, etc; in turn he listed the changes I'd need to make with the rest of my swing in order to optimize those alignments. He was willing to head down that road if I wanted to, he could make it work. After considering all the changes that would be necessary I decided to go with his gut instinct, but I know he is still evaluating. That's one of the things that I really like about Spencer's teaching, and the teaching of many in the younger crop of instructors in general. Evolution is inevitable and the days of fitting my inflexible-stocky build into a de la Torre-esque flowing swing, just because that's the only instruction I have access to, are over. /soliloquy I weakened my left hand, moved the #3PP onto the aft side of the shaft (starboard, 3 o'clock from the players pov), and improved the connection between my upper right arm and torso at P4.

Looks good Cloran.....the last step will be to get rid of the little cast move but fixing the other alignments will help more than that.

Thx Greg, I'm guessing that if I can loosen up my grip/wrists a bit it should improve a little. It may also be caused by some unconscious feeling of being layed off. My hands pop out and cast, but then the hands catch up and while my P6 position could certainly be better, it's not as bad as it should be with a casting move from P4. It looks so strange to me considering what it feels like. I think the other motions are more important at this point, too. Hopefully one day I'll have them grooved to a point where I can start focusing on the transition more.

After working hard on making some of the initial changes Spencer wanted to see I began to overdo things. I was getting under plane early and that created some more issues through my transition.
Now, I'm actually trying to get back some of the "old" takeaway and back swing feelings I had. It is A LOT harder than I thought it was going to be.
This swing is me trying to get on plane at P2, and increase my accumulators through transition... ultimately in hopes of removing the pop-out/OTT move I have deep in my DNA.
This is the best I've been able to do up to this point. Not very good at all. I was hitting lots and lots of pull fades.
(there's no front view because the range was standing room only.)

Trying to increase the #2pa through transition. This should go a long way in removing the pop-out at P4.

everything looks great to me but for losing the right tush/cheek before the left has taken its place and this leads a bit to the swing moving towards the ball a bit and to the feel of the OTT move at least that's how i see it

I wear it out of necessity only, trust me. Pasty-white and freckled Irish skin + 3 hairs remaining on the top of my mellon = yet another reason I should drop golf and take up bowling.

*sigh*
More of the same, under plane on the way back, TSP with the hands on the way down. I tried my hand at float loading on this one in an attempt to really get some increased loading at the top.
There's a scootch of loading through transition... a little, baby scootch. I hit lots and lots of little fades and pull-fades with this swing which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but when you're trying to draw the ball it's kind of disheartening.

I think if you are going to float load it you should stop your arm swing a tad earlier as the arm swing runs on to long but I don't think its really under plane all that much going back, I don't think its causing much issue.
Totally CF but I think it looks completely playable.
