I'm working on keeping some bend in my right arm at address while not setting my hands up too high. High hands worked for a bit, but it's been putting too much stress on my left wrist. Add in some jacked up gross/swing weights on my clubs and I was hurtin'...
The result of this swing was perfect. A slight push draw that started over the bunker, landed on the green just over the "sand", bounced once, hit the flag stick, and stopped.
Me likey!

I've seen a great improvement in my ball striking over the past 3 weeks. Spencer has been working hard on getting me away from the pop-out transition move I've ingrained and it's been quite difficult. In an attempt to "quiet" my transition a little more I began experimenting with increasing the gross weight and swingweight of my gear. I've settled into the following setup: (I did not make these adjustments per Spencer's request, but I have been keeping him in-the-loop... although I don't think he's aware of exactly how heavy I've been going... until now, lol) Current setup: I built one club first, liked it, and moved to the rest of the set. After two ranges sessions with the heavier gear my ball striking was ok, but I wan't taking advantage of the added leverage. I was still really turning the clubface over post impact and the extra weight was taking a toll on my left wrist. It was killing me for about a week! Then I just started to slow things down a bit and smooth out my back swing. It feels like I have a slight pause at the top and swing left through impact. I'm not exactly CP-ing it at P8, but the swing is much more controlled. Spencer made a comment to me one day regarding my hand speed. I had sent him a few full speed swing videos, and he mentioned that because I swung my hands so fast it would be extremely difficult for me to CP. I was using hand speed to get from over-plane, to on-plane, square the face at impact, etc. With the heavier equipment my hands can only fire so much. My takeaway can only be so quick. I can only CF post impact to a point (without breaking bones). After those first two sessions I took a few days off. I hit the range each day this week and had 5 straight sessions where I really felt in control of the clubhead. I'd say this past week has been the best string of ball striking I've ever had. Distance is the same, trajectory is better actually. More penetrating ball flight. It's much easier for me to alter my shot shapes with slight adjustments at address, whereas with the lighter equipment I never knew what it actually felt like to control the club and had to make larger adjustments in order to move the ball. Here's a swing from this past week:

Working on tightening up MANY things. Two biggies are: getting too long in the back swing, not releasing enough #4PA from P4 to P7. As a result I've been kicking in too much axis tilt, stalling my hips, over extending to P10, etc... lots of stuff to work on.
This video was taken today after Spencer gave me some new ideas to work on. I had a very nice session and I moved a little closer to being inline throughout the swing.
Baby steps, baby steps.

Cloran,
Given how nice your swing looks and how well you did in the chipping contest (which is a cool idea), I cannot believe that you will not break 80 soon and frequently.

*sigh* I hear ya' dh.... I try to sneak out for 9 holes/week. My last 5 nine-hole scores: 41, 43, 43, 42, 43. I'm knocking on the door. With some of the swing changes I've been working on I hope to elliminate that "where the F**K did that come from" shot. My last 9 holes looked amazing if you only watched 7 holes... if you watched the other 2 you would have cried for me. Horrid duck hook into the woods, followed by multiple attempts to get out of said woods, only to be topped off with 3 putts... The next hole? 2h off the tee was flushed, turmed the corner of the dogleg, and was dead center of the fairway. 142 left to the pin. PW was trapped and took off on a low traj, hit the green, hopped once, and stopped 12" from the hole. Bounce-back birdie, nice! Then a triple-b-b-b-b-bogey on the next... par, par, par the rest of the way.

I've had to leave my driver in the bad a lot lately... just no trust, and it was costing me strokes. I spent a lot of time thinking about my swing centers, path, circles, etc; and this is the result: (I played 9 holes last Saturday with this swing and hit 4/5 fairways with the driver)
Changes I've made in order to hit a baby push-draw: 1. Right foot pulled off the target line 2. Centers more stacked at address (less axis tilt) 3. Ball positioned in line with the big toe on my left foot (which is flared 20*-30*. My old position was in line with my left ankle. This alteration moves the ball approx 3"-4" more "up the circle."
With these alterations I can hit the ball with a pos angle of attack and give my clubface more time to square itself to the path. When I get things working properly my miss has been a dead straight ball and my best shots have been little push-draws. Fantastic distance and trajectory.

Looks great cloran. Can you elaborate on the reason for less axis tilt in this case?

I think you would be better off if the camera was sternum high and more towards the toes. Not sure if you had to do put it there because of a lack of a tripod or it was the only place you could put it.

With these alterations I can hit the ball with a pos angle of attack and give my clubface more time to square itself to the path. Have worked with Jim Kobylinski from Manzella's site. Good teacher. He has me working on similar things but wants enough access tilt to ensure a positive angle of attack with the driver. When I use the "twistaway" and keep the axis tilt through impact, I get a slight draw or straight ball. Why less or no axis tilt for you?

ioz... Thanks man. Less axis tilt for ME because I had WAYYYYY to much of it to begin with. I was a mix of old swing and new swing with the driver. I was setting up with a decent amount of tilt (think reverse K) and increasing that amount from P4 to P7... AND moving my upper center backward to do so. I was bottoming out too early, and I don't mean that I had a pos AOA. I'm talking about bottoming out so early that I almost miss the ball completely! I topped ball after ball after ball. This also shifted my path too far to the right, so when I did connect with one: 1. it was a mistake and I got lucky 2. I would hit a push cut. @r3j... unfortunately I couldnt get the camera any higher because I need to lock my gorilla tripod onto something. I could have got it a little higher by strapping it to my bag, but I already had it clamped onto a club holder (metal thingy you rest your clubs in between shots... I just put them back in my bag, lol), it was super hot, I was getting a sunburn, and I was melting. So, I just went with it. Also, the ropes were set up at the very back of the range and about 5 feet from a pvc fence. I couldn't get behind my "stall" in order to set up effeciently. I just ran out to the middle of the tee area quickly to grab one video. I tried to set up the camera based on the iron on the ground but I ended up teeing the ball too close to it. The outcome makes me look a little more inside on the back swing than I am, but overall it does a decent job. carland... see above.
