Pav, this video about the counterfall might be helpful to you - I find it very helpful (and also consistent with how we drill in module 2 of ABS).

I had to watch the video twice. The first time I was mesmorized w/ how much bend he has on the brim of his hat... it actually distracted me, lol.

You edited your post since I saw it and added: "I think it all has to do with your over rotated lafw at the top." I suspected this, but am not sure how to identify it. Can you explain how you can tell it's over-rotated? Thanks. On the face on view your clubface is facing the sky in a so called shut position and the back of your glove is also facing skywards and the palm is facing the ground. I don't know if this is what you want or just what's happening. It can cause problems for some golfers as they try and steepen the shaft on the d.s. to soon, and come over and outwards with the right shoulder causing a cut across and a slicing action depending on the face position. Also the shut face can force you to back up on the d.s. to keep the loft on the club, and there is a touch of that in your swing if you look at the finish.

Played yesterday and didn't do any better than usual. Actually it was a pretty bad day all around. Bummer too since I spent 4 hrs practicing on Saturday and then got up extra early to go to the range for about an hour before the round.
Round started out OK with a bogie on the 1st. I've never done better than double on that hole since it's a bit long for me at 440. And then on 2nd hole par 3, I made a really nice swing with an Equalizer that was right in line with the flag, but the distance to the flag was much much shorter than what was stated and I flew 5 yds over the green. Had a tough uphill pitch to a green sloping away from me and ended up rolling out the other side of the green. From there, it was pretty much downhill the rest of the round.
For some reason, I had a lot more power in my irons yesterday and it was hard to adjust. I kept drawing them too much as well; lost a few balls because of this. And I have a bad tendency whenever there is even a hint of pressure (real or imagined) to hit way fat.
Trying to figure out what to do to improve since that's not happening.

I feel ya' Pav.
I'm not sure how you feel about ABS, but I'm at a crossroads myself.
I need some hands on guidance and instruction if I really want to lower my HC. I sometimes (ok, most of the time lately) feel like doing the drill is pointless if I don't have any direction for my full swing and where I'm trying to get to.
I tried posting my full swing once over at ABS but was met with less than enthusiastic replies. So that's not an option.
IDK, what's a guy to do?
I would have gone to see Denny or iteach if they were up my way, but they aren't... I still may go see Mike Jacobs or travel a but further to see Steve Sieracki. He's an S&T instructor in NJ. S&T-ish swings appeal to me but going it alone would be like beating my head against a wall.
I love Lag's swing but in the vein of complete honesty I think his protocal may be better suited for low handicaps like 3jack. The drills ingrain subtle changes to an already good swing... I have no idea what I'm ingraining, lol.

Also...
When I see the work that iteach can do with someone in such a short amout of time I get jealous. Improving something in a scratch golfer's swing with drill work and discussion online may be enough... but I need someone like iteach to grab me by the shoulder and say "THIS IS WHERE YOU NEED TO BE!"
To paraphrase DA from our conversation two weeks ago: "I can read a book about disco dancing... plant foot here, turn here, point finger there... but doing it is another story all together."

Yeah, I know what you're saying. I'd love to get some lessons from iteach before he's on the tour. Even it was just to someday say, "I got a lesson from that guy!" Ha. I've been really really impressed recently with what I've seen of his work. I've been reading his stuff for a while, but I think he's really coming into his own now.
FWIW, I've really benefitted a bunch from posting my swing here and having everyone critique it. I plan to do that a lot more often.
ABS is slow and like I said, I plan to stick with it in the long run. To me, ABS is more like a lifestyle choice than a quick fix, and that's what I like about it. But I also know what you're saying about having someone there. I've even contemplated making a trip out to see Lag.
What I think would really help me is some on-course instruction. I don't know why that isn't more popular. I suppose it's the time and effort involved for the instructor. I know that when I was coached in other sports, there was lots of scrimmaging, sparring, or rehearsing going on. This was the time when the coaches could really catch your dumb mistakes or praise smart decisions and help you to improve.

Check out Shawn Clements youtube videos, braced tilt, tilted spiral, your over the top because your right side is high in the d.s. i won't go into all of it as Shawn explains it and how you setup at address is a big part of it and how you pivot also is huge.

Thanks nothere. Actually, Shawn is where I started last year when I started playing. Within a month, I had learned a ton about the golf swing and all the other stuff that Shawn goes into (playing, mental approach, etiquette, etc.)
At the time, Shawn's website wasn't very well organized, and he had close to 200 youtube videos listed in a very unreadable format, so I created my own web page of his videos. I spent hours and hours watching his videos and practicing as many drills as I could.
I think Shawn is great, and one of the best teachers out there at explaining what he is teaching and why he is teaching it.

I personally have changed my swing for the better in a very short time by implementing Shawn's teachings. Your right about Shawn as his teaching implements how our anatomy influences certain aspects of setup and the movement of the club and he explains it so well, which is key for a lot of people. I'm glad we have an outlet like youtube to find teachers like Shawn and for him to give us great information on video. Anyways good luck.

[brag] Played a par 3 this afternoon. Nothing too serious. More practice, but on the 7th hole, it was 145 yds uphill and into a pretty stiff wind down a shoot of trees to the typical postage stamp sized green. I knew I wanted to keep the ball low, so I took an extra club and made sure to swing easy. I hit a nice solid shot, but fell back a bit at the finish, so not the greatest swing. I see the ball headed straight toward the flag, bounce once, bounce again, and then BOOM! Hits the flag stick! Ha ha. I didn't know if it bounced away from the hole or what, but when I got up there, I saw that it was a foot-and-a-half from the hole. Took my time, and made the putt.
[beat] Still shot a 36 on a par 27 layout.
[variance] Didn't use a tee. Using tees at par 3's seems kinda lame to me now.

Tee it up!
In fact, at the par 3 that's next to my range it's "mandatory."
